For my fourth semester in Generate, I wanted to learn more about the electrical side of things, so I was an Electrical Hardware Engineer for Tubender, an automated EMT conduit bender that precisely advances, rotates, and bends up to 10ft of conduit for industrial applications. I designed and programmed a PID control system using C++ to ensure precise movement of a linear actuator to bend the EMT conduit. I also created PCB schematics in KiCad to connect the motors and sensors that I specced to the ESP32 microcontroller for firmware integration.
