For my second semester in Generate, I was the Mechanical Engineering Technical Lead for WaveWise, a depth-adjustable kelp farming platform that optimizes growth by taking measurements of the surrounding ocean conditions. I led system-level mechanical design by setting technical milestones, hosting internal design reviews, and teaching members about design principles, CAD, BOM management, and fabrication methods. I also calculated o-ring groove dimensions to design SLA 3D printed endcaps, ensuring the sensor array assembly was watertight. At the end of the semester, we tested our project in a university pool where it successfully floated, remained watertight, and raised/lowered the submersible.
